Me in Switzerland 🇨🇭

Greetings! I’m Alexis, a Computer Science graduate (B.Sc) from the Swiss Institute of Technology (EPFL), currently pursuing my master’s degree in Computer Science (MSCS) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). I am also a co-founder of Chainlabs, the software startup behind CryptoCookies.

My primary interest lies in real-time systems that are performant, reliable, and secure. Recently, I have grown a particular interest in networking research and database management systems.

While at EPFL, I served as a TA for various courses, including CS-108 Object-Oriented Programming, CS-251 Theory of Computation, CS-212 System-Oriented Programming, CS-306 Software Development, and COM-102 Information, Computation, Communication. I will also TA for 15-445 Database Systems at CMU next spring semester!

In my free time, I enjoy épée fencing, playing chess and poker with friends, and occasionally immersing myself in video games. Whenever I feel satured with Computer Science, I love going on long hikes outdoors to refresh and relax my mind.

I was born and raised in northern Belgium but moved to southern Switzerland when I was 10 years old, where I completed my high school and undergraduate studies. Today, I am excited to broaden my horizons in the United States!

Feel free to reach out at aschlome[at]andrew[dot]cmu[dot]edu. I’m more than happy to chat, share experiences, and answer questions!
